Traditional clothes drying is vulnerable to unpredictable weather, leading to garment damage. Existing smart racks often lack mechanisms to prevent over-drying, causing fabric deterioration and color loss. This paper presents "The Smart Cloth Racker," an advanced automated system addressing these limitations. Our innovation extends beyond rain protection by integrating comprehensive drying management. The system employs weather detection (rain, sunlight), humidity tracking (mist), and real-time moisture assessment to determine optimal drying conditions. Upon detecting rain or high humidity, the rack automatically retracts. Critically, it also retracts when clothes reach dryness, preventing prolonged sun exposure and over-drying. The system's architecture incorporates a microcontroller, moisture, weather, and humidity sensors, motors for automated movement, and a solar panel with battery for sustainable operation. Control algorithms govern the rack's movements based on sensor data, ensuring efficient and gentle drying. Anticipated benefits include enhanced drying efficiency, superior fabric protection, increased user convenience, and reduced energy consumption through solar power. This smart rack offers a significant advancement in automated clothes drying, safeguarding garment quality while promoting sustainability.
