| Abstract: | This research examines how the Union Budget has affected society. Impact is calculated using the short-, medium-, and long-term daily average returns and volatility throughout the pre- and post-budget periods. The influence of budgets is greatest in the near term, then it steadily diminishes in the medium period, and eventually it disappears in the long run. The growth of agriculture, rural development, irrigation and flood control, energy, industry, and minerals, transport, communication, research and technology, the environment, social services, and others are among the primary initiatives contained in the Union Budget. There are three approaches to look at spending patterns in the social sector. The first approach involves calculating it as a percentage of total government spending; the second involves examining social sector spending as a share of GDP; and the third involves examining actual per capita social sector spending.
