Abstract: Organizations often encounter difficulties in integrating Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their strategies. Despite the availability of guidelines from leading practitioners, such guidance often lacks the scientific insights provided by the academic community. This literature review based study analyzes the integration of academic management literature with practical guidelines for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) with focus on Rural development Interventions Rural areas are home to a significant portion of the population and are a key driver of agriculture and food production. Rural development is crucial for achieving Goal 2 of the 2030 Agenda, which aims to end hunger and ensure access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food all year round. This is achieved by promoting sustainable agricultural practices, increasing productivity and access to essential resources, and improving working conditions and land use. Furthermore, rural development is linked to Goal 1 of the 2030 Agenda, as poverty is predominantly a rural phenomenon – three-quarters of the world's poor live in rural areas. Strategies to combat rural poverty include improving access to services, infrastructure, and social protection systems, and supporting agricultural practices that protect food security and household incomes. Access to clean water and sanitation (Goal 6 of the 2030 Agenda) is another area where rural areas play a crucial role. Many rural communities lack access to safe and affordable drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities. Investments in water and sanitation infrastructure in rural areas are not only essential for health and well-being but also contribute to poverty reduction by improving productivity and economic opportunities. Finally, Goal 11 of the 2030 Agenda aims to make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. This often involves addressing the needs of both urban and rural settlements. Promoting rural development is essential to ensure access to basic services, improve infrastructure and mobility, and protect cultural and natural heritage. India relies on rural development to achieve balanced economic growth. Implementation programs for various initiatives aimed at developing infrastructure, education, healthcare, and living conditions in rural areas benefit from corporate assistance. Well-designed projects under corporate social responsibility (CSR), aligned with development indicators, can help reduce disparities between urban and rural areas by addressing essential needs and implementing necessary changes.
