Abstract: Chitosan is common polysaccharide familiarly used in biomedical applications in its derivative forms. Chitosan that are obtained from the shrimp shells are taken and compared with commercial. Chitosan on its own cannot dissolve in any neutral or basic solvents. The major problem chitosan faces is its poor solubility, limiting its applications in various fields. To overcome the Chitosan is common polysaccharide familiarly used in biomedical applications in its derivative forms. Chitosan that are obtained from the shrimp shells are taken and compared with commercial. Chitosan on its own cannot dissolve in any neutral or basic solvents. The major problem chitosan faces is its poor solubility , limiting its applications in various fields. To overcome the solubility issues, a derivative of chitosan known as Carboxymethyl chitosan (CMC) is synthesized by deacetylation of chitosan. There are numerous uses for chitosan in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and medical, nutrition, food industries, agriculture and sewage treatment. Chitosan is used in retaining moisture, addressing acne issues, improving skin tone, enhancing hair flexibility and in dental products. They are used in cosmetic industry due to its capacity to absorb and preserve moisture, antimicrobial characteristics and provide emulsion stabilization.
