Abstract: Abstract : Purpose:The well-being of the oral cavity and its impact on social interactions are influenced by oral health, which is closely linked to overall well-being and quality of life. The aim of this study was to assess the correlation between dental anxiety, oral hygiene habits and the overall oral health status. Methods: The number of participants in the study were 217,attending different colleges in Pune city. There were 113 (52.07%) males and 104 (47.93%) females. The methods of the data collection included a manual interview and clinical examination. MDAS(Modified Dental Anxiety Scale) was used for assessment of dental anxiety and Dentition Status Scale, 2013 was used for evaluation of oral health parameters. Results:In this study, statistically significant relation was seen between Dental Anxiety and Dentition Status Scale (p<0.05). There were no significant differences seen in mean dental anxiety scores and various socio-demographic variables such as age, gender, type of education, last dental visit and intervals between dental check-ups. Conclusion: This study showed, most of the participants in had low level of dental anxiety as estimated using MDAS. Increased levels of dental anxiety have a detrimental impact on oral health, correlating with higher Dentition Status Index scores. The quality of life of the participants can be enhanced by reducing the dental anxiety levels and thus fulfilling dental treatment needs.
