Heat sinks are crucial components in current technology, especially in electronic and thermal management applications. Their importance lies in their ability to dissipate heat efficiently, ensuring the optimal performance and longevity of various devices and systems. This study investigates the crucial role of fin design and height in enhancing heat transfer within a nanofluid flow heat sink. The effectiveness of different fin arrangements and shapes, including circular and rectangular, is examined to understand their impact on heat transfer. Utilizing Ansys Fluent for numerical evaluation, fin heights of 0.5 and 0.25 mm, with staggered arrangements, are considered. Through comprehensive CFD simulations, it is revealed that alterations in fin design result in varying levels of heat transfer, following a similar trend with changes in fin height. Notably, circular fins consistently outperform square fins, with a specific configuration of fin 0.25 mm in height for the first row and 0.5 mm for the second row demonstrating the highest heat transfer efficiency among the tested heat sink designs.
