Abstract: OBJECTIVE: To determine the effectiveness of Bobath technique in the treatment of stroke patients in improving strength and step length of lower limb To determine the effectiveness of partial weight bearing treadmill training technique in the treatment of stroke patients in improving strength and step length of lower limb To compare the effectiveness of Bobath technique and partial weight bearing treadmill training treatment in post stroke patients to improve strength and step length. METHODOLOGY: 40 patients were assigned into 2 groups by random allocation. Group-A (NDT Bobath treatment) consists of 20 patients. Group-B (partial weight bearing treadmill training) consists of 20 patients. Prior to the starting of the intervention program pre assessment was done by using outcome measures of foot print step length and brunnstrom voluntary control grading test for both the groups. PROCEDURE: Intervention program for 12 weeks in which Group-A NDT techniques Group-B partial weight bearing treadmill exercises. After the 12 weeks intervention posttest assessment was taken by using outcome measures of foot print step length and brunnstrom voluntary control grading test for both the groups. RESULTS: Statistical analysis of the data showed both the groups A and B showed significant difference from pre to post intervention. But on comparing mean values of Group A & B, Group B showed more improvement than Group A. Statistical analysis of the data showed both the groups A and B showed significant difference from pre to post intervention. But on comparing mean values of Group A & B, Group B showed more improvement than Group A. Both the groups A and B showed significant difference from pre to post intervention. But on comparing mean values of Group A & B, Group B showed more improvement than Group A. CONCLUSION: Partial weight bearing treadmill training group is found to be clinically more effective with greater percentage of improvement than NDT- Bobath technique alone. Further between the groups comparison found that there is statistically significant difference and better improvement of all outcome measures of Partial weight bearing treadmill training.
