In wireless sensor networks the most nodes are fixed. The node connectivity is subject to vary due to interruptions in wireless communication, transmission power changes, or loss of synchronization between the neighbouring nodes. Even after a sensor is alert of its immediate neighbours, it must constantly maintain its observation, a process called as continuous neighbour discovery. In this work we discriminate between adjacent discovery during sensor network initialization and continuous neighbour discovery. Here focus on the latter and view it as a joint task of all the nodes in every connected segment. Every sensor employs a simple protocol in a coordinate effort to reduce power consumption without increasing the time required to detect hidden sensors.
