Abstract
Child rape has emerged as a critical social and legal issue in India, demanding strong statutory
mechanisms and judicial sensitivity. This research examines the legal framework governing
sexual offences against children in India, primarily focusing on the Protection of Children from
Sexual Offences Act, 2012 and its interplay with the Indian Penal Code, 1860. It analyzes
judicial interpretations that shape the practical application of these laws, identifies systemic
weaknesses in enforcement, and suggests reforms to improve protection, expedite justice, and
enhance victim support. The study adopts a doctrinal and analytical methodology and reviews
statutes, case laws, and scholarly evaluations
