Hospitals operate in high-pressure environments where timely and accurate access to patient information is critical for effective clinical decision-making. However, traditional Hospital Management Systems (HMS) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) platforms rely heavily on manual data entry, leading to inefficiencies, increased workload, and potential documentation errors.
This paper presents VocaCare AI, an intelligent voice-enabled hospital management system designed to facilitate hands-free interaction with medical data through natural speech. The system integrates Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), Natural Language Processing (NLP), and real-time audio streaming to enable healthcare professionals to perform CRUD operations on patient records efficiently. A secure backend architecture using Flask/FastAPI ensures data processing, while role-based access control (RBAC), encryption, and audit logging maintain compliance with healthcare data protection standards.
VocaCare AI supports multilingual communication and contextual understanding of medical terminology, allowing seamless interaction across diverse healthcare environments. The system is designed with a modular architecture that enables interoperability with existing EHR systems using standards such as HL7 FHIR.
Experimental evaluation in simulated clinical scenarios demonstrates high usability, achieving over 94% voice recognition accuracy and reducing documentation time by up to 60%. The proposed system enhances operational efficiency, reduces human error, and improves patient care by enabling real-time, hands-free data management.
The study highlights the potential of AI-driven voice interfaces to transform conventional hospital workflows into intelligent, responsive, and scalable healthcare ecosystems.
