Paper Title:
Impact of Quality of Work Life Dimensions on Employee Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment: An Empirical Study Among Manufacturing Workers in Mandideep Industrial Area, Madhya Pradesh
This study explores how different aspects of Quality of Work Life (QWL) influence job satisfaction (JS) and organizational commitment (OC) among 320 manufacturing workers employed in the Mandideep Industrial Area of Madhya Pradesh. Using Walton’s (1975) framework as a foundation, six QWL dimensions—compensation, work environment safety, growth opportunities, job security, social integration, and work–life balance—were measured using a structured questionnaire. Descriptive results indicate moderate levels of JS (M = 2.98, SD = 0.85) and OC (M = 2.47, SD = 0.63). Regression findings reveal that QWL significantly predicts JS (R² = 0.627), with compensation and growth emerging as the strongest contributors. QWL also predicts OC (R² = 0.334), driven primarily by job security and social integration. Gender showed no significant differences in either JS or OC. Differences across firms were statistically insignificant, although fabrication units displayed slightly lower mean scores. The study highlights the need for focused HR strategies to enhance QWL as a means of strengthening satisfaction and commitment among workers in regional manufacturing clusters.
