BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY:
Headache is a very common condition worldwide. Cervicogenic headache is a secondary type of headache. Dentistry requires both, the concentration and precision and dentists have to work in constricted zones for extended period of time so it is important to evaluate headache among dental students. Myofascial release (MFR) is a manual method to alleviate muscle stiffness, reduce pain, and improve range of motion of cervical spine. Corrective exercise provides increased mobility and improved strength to the neck muscles. Aim of the study is to investigate the effectiveness of Myofascial release and Corrective exercises using craniovertebral angle for cervicogenic headache
METHODOLOGY:
The study consists of 30 samples of Dental students with Cervicogenic Headache who are divided into 2 groups. Group A consisting of 15 samples and group B with 15 samples. Group A receives Myofascial release with corrective exercises (30 minutes session, 5 times a week, for 6 weeks). Group B receives Postural Education (30 minutes session, 5 times a week, for 6 weeks). Exercise will focus on improving strength of the neck muscles.
RESULT:
There was a significant improvement with the p value (p<0.0001) of CVA in Posture correction and in Group A (experimental) compared to Group B (control). These results suggest that Group A intervention was more effective in correcting forward head posture and reducing neck disability.
CONCLUSION:
These results emphasize the importance of myofascial release and corrective exercises in managing forward head posture and neck disability. A structured rehabilitation program focusing on postural correction, muscle strengthening, and ergonomic modifications can lead to significant improvements in cervical alignment and overall function.
