The transformative potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, particularly in the field of
public health, is reviewed in this paper as it relates to improving vital statistics in India. Artificial
Intelligence (AI) technologies, like natural language processing and predictive analytics, greatly
improve diagnostic precision and streamline health data analysis. Big Data analytics also makes
predictive modeling and real-time monitoring possible, which raises the caliber and granularity
of health data. Large-scale health datasets can be successfully managed by AI, as demonstrated
by global case studies. This approach can be modified for the Indian context to fill in data gaps,
particularly in underprivileged areas. Nonetheless, ethical considerations about data privacy and
transparency continue to be essential for upholding public confidence. This paper explores these
developments and obstacles, providing suggestions for combining AI and Big Data to improve
data completeness, timeliness, and accuracy in India's public health system, supporting evidence-
based policymaking.
This review paper examines how artificial intelligence (AI) and big data can improve official
statistics' scope, timeliness, and accuracy, especially regarding public health and vital statistics in
India. Data gaps, quality problems, and delayed reporting are among the issues that continue to
exist even though the Census and National Sample Surveys offer vital data. By automating data
processing, enabling real-time analysis, and spotting hidden patterns in massive datasets,
artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics provide creative answers to these problems.
Statistical agencies can enhance the quality and applicability of health data and facilitate more
accurate and timely health interventions by incorporating AI approaches like predictive analytics
and natural language processing. In light of India's developing technological landscape, this
paper emphasizes the significance of utilizing AI and Big Data to overcome current limitations in
official statistics and enable data-driven policymaking. However, challenges like data integration
and algorithmic biases must be addressed to fully unlock AI’s potential for advancing public
health and vital statistics.
