Abstract: ABSTRACT With an emphasis on fixed deposits (FDs), this study investigates the investment habits of workers in Jharkhand's public and private sectors. The purpose of the study is to evaluate employees' knowledge of fixed deposits, their inclinations for financial investments, and the variables—such as sociodemographic traits, gender disparities, and financial literacy—that affect their investment choices. Using a descriptive approach and stratified random sample, the study polls 640 workers, 320 of whom are from each sector. The results show a high degree of fixed deposit awareness, but notable deficiencies in comprehension of intricate ideas like compound interest. The study also shows that wealth, education, and gender all have a significant impact on investment decisions. Even though most respondents were aware of interest rates on FDs, a sizable percentage voiced doubts regarding the interest calculation process. In order to improve investment decision-making in Jharkhand, these findings underscore the necessity of improved financial literacy initiatives and gender-specific financial advice services.
