Paper Title:
EFFECTIVENESS OF NATURE BASED SOUND THERAPY (NBST) ON THE LEVELS OF AGITATION AND PHYSIOLOGICAL STRESS AMONG PATIENTS WITH MECHANICAL VENTILATOR IN MICU AT SNHRC, VELLORE
The role of music in health care, particularly in critical care environments, aligns with the broader trend of incorporating non-pharmacological interventions to improve patient outcomes and experiences. A quasi-experimental was conducted to assess the Effectiveness of Nature Based Sound Therapy (NBST) on the Levels of Agitation and Physiological Stress among Patients with Mechanical Ventilator in MICU. The pre- test of experimental group, the levels of Agitation mean score was 2.8 and SD ±0.406, in post-test mean score was 4.8 and SD ±0.3, mean difference 2 and ‘t’ value was 9.75which is highly significant at P<0.001 level. In control group the pre-test levels of Agitation mean score was 2.8 and SD ±0.73, in post-test mean score was 4.8 and SD ±0.69, mean difference 2 and ‘t’ value 0.073 was not significant at P<0.001 level. This study showed that changing surrounding environmental sounds decreases environmental stimulation. Physiological parameters were reduce significantly after the completion of NBST intervention as a complementary adjunct is safe and can be applied by clinical nurse
