A study to evaluate the effectiveness of planned teaching program on knowledge regarding best practices in operation theatre among nursing students at NNC, Jamuhar
Introduction- Nurse is the primary health care person of the operation theatre. A uniform practice among nurses will ensure standard of care. One important practice that forms the base in the prevention of infection. The correct performance of these procedures helps to protect a patient from infection. All members of the sterile surgical scrub team are required to perform a surgical hand scrub and done sterile gown and gloves before touching sterile equipment or the sterile field. It is very important to find out the level of knowledge and best practice of student nurses updated with the standard protocols of surgery and infection prevention for the better post-operative results to avoid the post-operative complications.
Methodology- The current study was a Quasi experimental, one group pre-test post-test group design study. The total sample size 105 B.Sc. Nursing Students were selected by using of purposive non randomized sampling technique. Data collection was collected by the knowledge questionnaire it consisted of 10 Multiple choice question, and after that the data collection, analysis by the descriptive inferential and statistical test.

which had 7 items. Part B: consisted of knowledge questionnaire it consisted of 24 multiple choice questions

Result: The findings of the present study show that mean post-test knowledge score (6.54% ) is higher than mean pre-test knowledge score (5.14%) and the computed “t” value show that there was a highly significant difference between pre-test and post-test knowledge score P - Value (P<0.013) Hence the null hypothesis is rejected and research hypothesis is accepted.
Discussion and Conclusion: The study concluded that that nursing students are having average knowledge and adequate practice regarding operation theatre. The health professional could arrange periodically educational program regarding operation theatre best practice among nursing students. Nurse should update their knowledge constantly and apply their knowledge in operation theatre best practice.
