| Abstract: | Menopause is one of the phases of life of women that causes various physiological and psychological changes in women. Therefore, this study aims to analyse the psychological issues middle aged women face at postmenopausal stage. A cross-sectional study was carried out which focuses on postmenopausal women in Aligarh city (50 women under the age group of 45 to 55 years) by using stratified random sampling. A self-structured questionnaire was administered for gathering the data through home visits and interviews in A.D.A. Colony Shah Jamal. Various psychological issues were reported in the interview which can be summarized as anxiety, depression, poor memory, self-pity, anhedonia, inattentiveness, mood swing and insomnia. Among all major problems are self-pity and anhedonia followed by poor appetite and inattentiveness. Significant relationship had also been found between various psychological issues and socio-demographic variables using appropriate statistical measure (ANOVA Test). These issues can be minimized with proper counselling and healthy diet. |
