Abstract: The fertility status of soil in tribal areas holds paramount importance for sustaining agriculture and livelihoods, particularly given the heavy reliance of tribal communities on farming practices for their subsistence. This research paper concentrates on assessing soil fertility in a tribal area nestled within Shahdol district. This study endeavors to offer valuable insights into prevailing soil conditions and nutrient levels, thus enabling informed decision-making and fostering sustainable agricultural progress in the tribal expanse of Shahdol district. Soil analysis encompassing diverse parameters, such as pH, electrical conductivity (EC), and nutrient content (including organic carbon, nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, sulfur, zinc, boron, iron, manganese, and copper), was undertaken on five soil samples procured from the tribal area of Shahdol. Findings unveiled pH values ranging from 6.88 to 7.99, indicative of slightly acidic to slightly alkaline conditions. Electrical conductivity varied from 0.1 to 0.5 ms/cm, suggesting low to moderate salt content in the soil. Organic carbon content remained uniform across samples, hovering around 0.15%, with a solitary exception of S5 exhibiting a higher value of 0.3%. Nitrogen content stood at 43 Kg/ha across most samples, except for S5, which registered a higher value of 143. Phosphorus content fluctuated between 1.56 and 23.9 Kg/ha, while potassium content ranged from 121.5 to 658.6 Kg/ha. Sulfur content spanned from 10 to 20 ppm, showcasing minor variability. Zinc, boron, iron, manganese, and copper content displayed marginal differences among the samples.
