| Abstract: | When the kidney is unable to filter blood, dialysis is an alternate method for filtration. Lifetime dialysis becomes unavoidable unless kidney transplantation is successfully done. Hemodialysis subjects normally have a poor quality of life and there is a positive association between quality of life of patient and support of family. Hence, it was necessary to conduct a study regarding the home care management among the patient of hemodialysis subjects to improve their knowledge. The objective of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of Self Instructional Module for home care management of patient undergoing hemodialysis. A quantitative research approach with pre-experimental one group pre-test post-test design was adopted. The subjects were 60 sample selected by non-probability convenient sampling technique was used among hemodialysis patients. The level of knowledge was assessed with the help of self structured knowledge questionnaire before intervention followed by administration of Self Instructional Module. Findings revealed that Self Instructional Module was effective in improving the knowledge regarding home care management of patient undergoing hemodialysis. |
