Abstract: Elderly patients are more prone to develop Drug related problems majorly due to the altered pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics and increased number of concomitant disease states under medication. Hence this study can play a major role in identifying the potential risks in choosing a treatment regimen for elderly patients. The main objective of our study is to assess the Drug-related problems among elderly patients in a tertiary care hospital and determine its prevalence. This study also determines the socio-demographic characteristics of geriatric patients. An Ambispective Study was conducted on elderly patients at Siddaganga Medical College and Research Institute for 6 months from March to August 2022. Among the DRPs found, 35% were found to be drug interactions followed by untreated indications at 26%. Untreated indications can affect the patient progress negatively. Improper drug selection was found in 9% of the total cases. Adverse drug reactions were found in 9% of the cases. In about 7% of the cases overdose was seen, sub therapeutic doses were found to be prescribed in 5% of the cases. About 3% of the patients failed to receive their drugs. The total prevalence rate of DRPs observed was 71.36%.
