This study explores the effectiveness of biochar in stabilizing Chittur soil, known for its high plasticity and susceptibility to shrink-swell behaviour. Laboratory experiments involving different biochar percentages were conducted to assess changes in soil properties. Results indicate that biochar incorporation improves soil compaction, strength. Higher biochar concentrations lead to increased soil stability and reduced shrink-swell behaviour. Biochar also enhances soil porosity and water retention. This research highlights biochar as a promising, sustainable solution for Chittur soil stabilization, with potential implications for engineering applications.
