| Abstract: | When our body does not produced insulin in a sufficient amount, or the body cell do not respond to the insulin formed, then the diabetes mellitus disease is caused. Diabetes mellitus it's a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycaemia, glycosuria, hyperlipidaemia. A wide pathological change is thickening of capillary basement membrane, increase in vessel wall matrix and cellular proliferation performing in vascular complications like lumen narrowing, early atherosclerosis, sclerosis of glomerular capillaries, retinopathy, neuropathy and supplemental vascular insufficiency. Diabetes mellitus”, is one of the most common non-communicable conditions worldwide. Insulin insufficiency in turn leads to long term hyperglycaemia with disturbances of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism. It's the most common endocrine disorder and by the time 2010, it's estimated that further than 200 million people worldwide will have DM and 300 million will latterly have the disease by 2025.Various However these current drugs do not restore normal glucose homeostasis for longer period and they are not free from side effects such as hypoglycaemia, kidney diseases, The present review therefore is an attempt to focus on the types, cause, etiology synthetic and herbal treatment of diabetes. |
