Abstract: Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) commonly known as Gram or Bengal gram, is the crop belonging to Leguminosae family and believed to have originated from South West Asia and the adjoining part of Syria. Chickpea is important legume crop of Maharashtra state. Looking to the importance of the problem, a study was conducted in Hingoli district of Maharashtra State and its objective was to find out major constraints faced by the chickpea growers in adoption of recommended chickpea production technology. Two talukas; Basmat and Aundha of Hingoli district were selected for the study. Total three villages were randomly selected from each selected taluka and 20 farmers were randomly selected from each village. Thus, total sample size was 120 farmers. In this investigation, constrains were categorized into six different categories viz. Personal, Socio-economic, Communication, Technological, Agronomical and Marketing constraints. The constrains were analyzed with the help of Garret’s ranking technique. The major constraint faced by chickpea growers, from each category were lack of knowledge (63.44 mean score), high cost of inputs (64.38mean score), non-availability of information at the proper time (63.33 mean score), Unavailability of proper electric supply (58.68 mean score), and High incidence of Fungal diseases (59.43 mean score) and lack of prompt payment after sell (62.88 mean score) respectively.
