| Abstract: | WHO estimates that over 4.2 million deaths every year due to air pollution. In 2021, the honorable Supreme Court has ordered the closure of all schools and colleges in the Indian capital. Poor air quality creates two problems. It affects all the living organisms; it also damages the earth. This empirical research focused on the AQI of Dimapur City and the health hazards it creates among the people living in the city. Data were collected from different sources to identify the AQI of Dimapur City. Opinions from the public, a report from the Government office that monitors Air quality in the city, interview data from a medical doctor working at a hospital and information from teachers from educational institutions paved the way for the study. The researchers conclude that the Dimapur air pollution is deteriorating day by day. Though the city has pollution monitoring mechanism, it is not able to improve the air quality. The public face many pollution-related sicknesses, continue to pollute the air, and learns to live with the air pollution. There is a compulsory course for undergraduate students on Environmental Science, but it needs practical application practice to minimize the pollution problem. |
