Specifically, it is focused on the archetypal analysis of Jon snow and Daenerys Targaryen. The analysis is based on in the light of Joseph Campbell’s concept of the Hero's Journey in fantasy literature. Campbell presents a sequence of steps to identify the hero archetype. The hero's journey can be described as 3 stages and 17 sub-stages. In the selected novel, A Game of Thrones, 6 sub-stages are evident. They are a call to adventure, The Supernatural Aid, crossing of the first Threshold, The Belly of the whale, The Meeting with God, and Meeting the Mentor. They are all analysed in this article.
