| Abstract: | The nature of the urban centres is dynamic. With the passage of time importance of certain activities in the city is declining while importance of some others is increasing. In ancient times, cities had only residential activities but as the trade and commerce became the lifeline of the society, cities became heart of big trading companies. There have been changes in urban functions such as security, religious, administration, transport, trade, health, educational, industrial and different kind of services etc. With change in functions; the land use pattern in these cities becomes much more complex. One such case is Gurugram city in Haryana. Apart from industrial centres, Gurugram city has several tertiary and quaternary services as well as it has grown as a service centre in North India. This paper will make an attempt to know the major urban functions of Gurugram city in 2021. |
