Abstract: The gastro-retentive hydrodynamically balanced system (HBS) for stomach specific floating sustained drug release has its importance at present time for improving the absorption of drugs especially that are directly absorbed from stomach and small intestine. The hydrodynamically balanced system of Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride (MX) were prepared using various polymers and ingredients that may increase the retention time in gastro-intestinal tract. The results obtained stated that MX-Gelucire dispersion of the model drug have the properties to lower the release rate of drug.
