Abstract: In this paper, a multiband metamaterial absorber is designed. 8 octagonal and 1 decagonal ring-shaped structure is proposed. The design of multiband absorber is done on FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.2mm and unit cell dimension is 20×20×1.2mm3. The absorbance of proposed multi–band Metamaterial Absorber (MMA) is 98.4% at 8.6GHz, 99.8% at 10.0GHz, 96.5% at 12.8GHz, 94.5% at 15.6GHz and 98.7% at 16GHz frequencies. The reflectivity at these frequencies is almost zero. This multiband absorber is polarization insensitive. This proposed multiband absorber can be used in many applications like RCS reduction, EMC, Imaging & Sensing in X & Ku band.
