Abstract: | Flywheel energy storage uses electric motors to drive the flywheel to rotate at a high speed so that the electrical power is transformed into mechanical power and stored, and when necessary, flywheels drive generators to generate power. The flywheel system operates in the high vacuum environment. Characterized by no friction loss, small wind resistance, long life, no impact on the environment, and needing no maintenance, this flywheel system is applicable to power grid frequency modulation and power quality guarantee. However, it also has some shortcomings such as low energy density and the high cost of ensuring the system's security. Its advantages cannot be manifested on a small scale. At present it is mainly used to supplement the battery system. |
