Adansonia digitata L. belongs to the family Bombacaceae is rare and highly endangered medicinal tree species native to dry regions of tropical Africa, Australia and Madagascar. It is generally known as African Baobab. It has numerous medicinal and non-medicinal uses. Almost all parts of tree have immense medicinal value and pharmacological properties like antioxidant, antipyretic, analgesic, antiviral, antimicrobial, antifungal, antitrypanosoma, antidiabetic, diuretic etc. The human intervention like land use and overexploitation led to biodiversity loss globally. In context to this multipurpose tree species with diverse genetic resources hold an important place for human welfare which needs immediate conservation. The present study deals with in vivo germination through seeds, sowed in three different growth media all mixed with vermicompost (3:1). The best result found in terms of percentage of seed germination, plant mean height and number of leaves emergence under observation for one month duration was seen in mixed sandy soil in comparison with other growth medium such as loamy soil and saw dust.
