The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 introduced by the Government of India marked a significant shift in the country's education landscape. While the policy aims to transform the entire education system, its impact on rural education is of particular importance due to the unique challenges faced by rural areas. This research paper examines the implications of NEP 2020 on rural education, highlighting the challenges it poses and the opportunities it presents. Through a comprehensive analysis of existing literature, policies, and empirical data, this paper identifies key areas where NEP 2020 can contribute to improving rural education outcomes, as well as the obstacles that must be addressed to ensure its successful implementation. Recommendations are provided to leverage the opportunities and address the challenges to foster equitable and quality education in rural India.
