| Abstract: | Drug addiction is a complex disease that has negative consequences for individuals and for society. The alarming extent of drug addiction is worrisome for the entire country. Drawing on current research and available statistical data of India, the article examines the diverse range of substances commonly abused. The article also provides a comprehensive overview of the multidimensional issue of drug abuse, exploring its underlying causes, societal, economical and health impacts, and the treatment of addiction. Additionally, the paper examines various intervention strategies, from preventive education initiatives to rehabilitation programs, highlighting the importance of a holistic and collaborative approach to effectively tackle this widespread public health concern. |
