Abstract: The great andamanese tribe is the main inhabitants of Andaman and nicobar islands ,they are deep black in colour with curly hair ,their food habits,dressing ,rituals are different from other tribes ,they believe in “puluga”who is the cause of everything for their lives ,they believe in “monogamy” marriage is a special occasion they consider ,they have their special funeral process also. The “ battle of aberdeen ”made tremendous change in their nomadic life after the battle with britishers they settled themselves in Strait island(A Island of A&N Islands) in andaman and nicobar itself ,presently they are in close contact with local people ,The Administration has given them with many benefits such as Education facility,Govt. Job and other health and wellness schemes have been launched for them. They visit local markets and communicate with a few local people . The aim of this paper is to showcase the present scenario of these tribes and preserve their close to extinct tradition and culture. Their interaction with localities of A&N islands had made several changes and impacts in their life,they have indulge in unparliamentary habits and practices.therefore their natural way of lifestyle and livelihood should be preserved .
